Energy Mix

How the UK generates its electricity, split fuel by fuel and measured in TWh (terawatt-hours, a unit of electricity), across gas, wind, nuclear, bioenergy, solar, hydro and coal. Gas is the swing supplier that fills in when the wind drops. When low-carbon sources take a larger share the grid gets cleaner; when fossil fuels take more it gets dirtier.
